What Spa? are pleased to announce that our What Spa? Approval Scheme has been revised and updated for 2008.Â
The last 18 months has unfortunately seen an influx of internet hot tub traders who are setting up websites and importing spuriously manufactured hot tubs from the Far East. This has led to an influx of hot tub horror stories from internet buyers who in some cases have been sold non-CE compliant hot tubs from the Far East which at best are unserviceable and at worst are dangerous.
We felt it was more important than ever therefore to revamp our What Spa? Approval Scheme to give discerning hot tub buyers greater peace of mind at point of sale and after their hot tub is delivered and installed. In order to win What Spa? Approval hot tub manufacturers and dealers alike must meet a strict criteria that includes CE compliance, industry approved training, warranty support and showroom facilities where customers can come, view and try the product before they buy.
Whilst the internet is great for many purchases, it is not a buying channel that particularly suits hot tubs, as the comfort and hydrotherapeutic element of hot tubs (which is the most important feature of all for relaxation, health and wellbeing) can only be felt by wet testing first before you commit to a spa. The differences between hot tub models even from one manufacturer can vary immensely so buying without trying a hot tub first on price from internet sites and online auctions can be a real recipe for disaster. Indeed we have had over 150 emails in the last 6 months from angry and upset buyers who have fallen victim to such sharp practice and been left high and dry with non-compliant and unfixable hot tubs and no after-sales support.
Look out for the the new 2008 What Spa? Approved logo before you choose your retailer. Of course it is not a silver bullet to customer satisfaction but it is a very good platform to start from.

Arctic Spas Cymru recently opened in Bangor North Wales with the mission to help customers find exactly the right hot tub for their needs.
Recognising that most people in the UK are still slightly bewildered by the hot tub market and are making their first ever purchase of a hot tub, Gareth and Mel, who run Arctic Spas Cymru, are determined to help people take the step up in lifestyle in a well informed way.
After several months of research Gareth opened the Arctic Spas dealership in North Wales with a determination to give customers expert advice, great customer service and first class after-sales support. “We recognise that for many people a hot tub is a fairly big purchase and want the reassurance of dealing with a long-established world-wide hot tub supplier like Arctic Spas”.
Two main ranges are offered including Coyote and Arctic Spas which between them total 13 spas with many optional extras from extra jets, therapy air, ozone purification, music options, and lighting to a wide range of accessories including saunas and gazebos. “Our spas are all customisable so your tub can be tailored to your personal needs and preferences, either before delivery at Arctic Spas’ UK facility or even after installation. Arctic and Coyote Spas are upgradeable on-site, so you don’t need to worry that you’ve made a wrong choice of optional extras.”

Luxury Living, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading distributors of spas, saunas and outdoor products revealed an exciting collection at the SPATEX 2008 Show in Brighton this week. The company has won exclusive distribution rights to Villeroy & Boch’s luxurious range of Wellness at Home products, a collection of luxury spas and saunas.
Â
The jewel in Villeroy & Boch’s crown is the SP-Line, featuring the exclusive JetPak System®, with removable jetted seats. JetPak technology enables Villeroy & Boch owners to easily customise the hydrotherapic experience to their own needs and preferences. This unique system also ensures that hot tubs will always stay up-to-date as the JetPak’s can be simply removed and upgraded if the spa owner wishes to stay at the cutting edge of jet technology in the future.
Villeroy & Boch spas use 90% less plumbing which ultimately gives more power than most conventional spas. The JetPak System® means that all Villeroy & Boch spas are virtually leak-proof because of the way they are plumbed. To prevent further heat loss, the spas are also filled with high density foam insulation.
Luxury Living also displayed Villeroy & Boch’s state-of-the-art sauna range at the show. Besides their eye-catching designer looks, Villeroy & Boch offer the only range on the market to combine conventional sauna, steam and infrared treatments in one compact unit.
