The Envoy is one of the most popular models in the Hotspring range and a frequently selected choice in the UK. With a RRP of £11,295, the 5-seater Envoy is at the top end of the spa price/quality spectrum, but it succeeds in justifying a high end price tag.
The spa shell is designed with both style and functionality in mind, with soft, flowing lines and comfortable, barrier free seating and a spacious footwell. The Envoy's showpiece feature is the Moto-Massage DX jet on the back of the lounge seat, which has 2 sweeping jets that dynamically massage your entire back from top to bottom.
The Envoy enjoys 39 jets and 2 therapy pumps, and the massage is both varied and powerful. The topside controls and jet adjustability also ensure that each bather can be in control of their own individual seat. The twin Soothing Seven jets and Rotary jets also provided good upper and lower back massage.
The Moto-Massage powered lounge seat impressed us most and the Envoy should certainly make it onto the wet test shortlist of anyone looking for a top-of-the-line spa with a lounge seat.
Water quality is optimised as the spa is equipped with 24-hour circulation, filtration, ozonation and mineral purification. This should minimise chemical usage and make for comfortable bathing conditions.
The Envoy is rated to just 16 Amps which means that running costs will be very low. The Silent-Flo circulation pump filters and circulates the water around the clock and as the name suggests, it is silent in use.
The Envoy comes into it's own after dark, when the triple jet waterfall arcs a gentle stream of coloured water into the spa and the in-spa LED lighting system soothes the senses. The audio system on the Envoy has to be felt to be described…the sound resonates through the water and you can literally "feel the sound". It also panders to needs of those more digitally aware by playing MP3's.
Whilst we found the topside control panel buttons difficult to operate on the model we tried, the radio controlled remote control system allows you to control things topside irrespective of where you are sitting. This also allows you to remotely control the stereo if you are having a bbq or garden party and want some outdoor music.
Our Verdict: For those discerning spa enthusiasts who want style, features, ease of maintenance and low running costs, the Envoy should certainly be on your shopping list. The price reflects not just the quality of the spa but also the peace of mind offered by the long and extensive warranty. The Envoy's best feature is the Moto-Massage seat which provides dynamic massage and can be adjusted to offer either gentle massage or a deeper, more powerful work-out. Whilst there is no radio, the stereo is CD and MP3 compatible which will appeal to all age groups. A great all-rounder for those looking for a 5-seater with lounge seat.
